Should pain is a symptom with many underlying causes from mild to serious conditions. The most common cause that people usually ignore is neck/should muscle fatigue caused by unhealthy posture (forward head or round shoulder). If left untreated, the condition will develop to cause cervical dis degeneration and arthritis which can be very painful with limited movement of the neck, sleeplessness, and pain can radiated to the forearm and hand. For some patients, the pain is so bad that need urgent decompression surgery.

Another common causes are the rotator cuff injury and frozen shoulder. This pain usually presents with the movement of the upper arm or aches at night. The rotator cuff can be inflamed, full thickness partial tear or total tear. Frozen should can happened following rotator cuff injury, should dislocation or fracture.

Treatment for shoulder pain, thus, has to be tailored for each specific conditions. With proper management, most of should pain can be eliminated.
